There are many different associations in the state of Kentucky. One of these is the Big Sandy Area Development District, which is committed to economic development, community planning and developing, basic community services, help for the aging, elderly, or disabled, and general housing services for the people of Floyd County, Johnson County, Magoffin County, Martin County, and Pike County.

The Grand Lodge of Kentucky is another important association which is responsible for supervising masonic lodges in the state. This organization was first established in 1800, making it one of the older, more historic organizations in the state. The Kentucky Equality Federation is also important and seeks to provide help, various services, and fair and equal rights for all gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals in Kentucky and, on a larger scale, throughout the world. Partner organizations include Kentucky Equality Incorporated, the Kentucky Equality Coalition Incorporated, and Kentucky Equality PAC.This is one of many civil rights organizations in existence in the state.
